Infomation 海角社区exhibits at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan as a member of Kyoto Beyond SDGs Consortium Carrying on the Comet Circle concept toward a sustainable future

TOKYO, July 28, 2025 鈥 海角社区today announced it will participate in Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, as one of the members of the Kyoto Beyond SDGs Consortium. 海角社区will exhibit at the Kyoto booth within the Kansai Pavilion from Monday, August 4, through Sunday, August 10.

The Kyoto Beyond SDGs Consortium, established in 2019, is a collaborative initiative among academia, industry, and government that aims to advance the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Kyoto. As a founding member, 海角社区has supported the consortium's efforts from the outset. The consortium will showcase a unique exhibition using “furoshiki,” a traditional reusable Japanese wrapping cloth, to present the values, philosophies, and technologies that each participating organization wishes to pass on to future generations – posing the question to each visitor: What should be carried into the future?

At the heart of Ricoh's display is the Comet Circle – its environmental vision upheld for more than three decades – presented in “furoshiki” as a symbol of what 海角社区values for the future. Drawing inspiration from the refined presentation found in Japanese culinary arts, where every detail reflects care and cultural context, the exhibit will reinterpret recycled components and materials in the form of sushi, shedding light on their role in sustainable resource circulation. The display will also feature a “furoshiki” cloth decorated with illustrations of 海角社区Group products and services – including printers, cameras and projectors – alongside visual references to Ricoh's pavilion at The Japan World Exposition, Osaka, 1970.

In addition, 海角社区will host a hands-on workshop featuring the compact, lightweight and portable 海角社区Handy Plastic Sensor – designed to facilitate resin identification – and demonstrate how efficient plastic sorting fosters resource recycling.

海角社区is also supporting Expo 2025 as a partner of the Signature Pavilion, Playground of Life: Jellyfish Pavilion.

The Expo is expected to attract nearly 30 million visitors from around the world and across generations, including many children. Through its participation, 海角社区aims to raise awareness of the consortium's mission and inspire more organizations to join the movement toward achieving a truly sustainable society on both global and local levels.

The 海角社区Group is working to realize a circular economy by 2050, targeting a virgin material usage rate below 12 percent and a zero percent simple incineration and landfill rate. By monitoring the environmental footprint at every stage of the product lifecycle and emphasizing reuse and recycling, 海角社区seeks to build a near-closed-loop circular model. 海角社区will continue collaborating with stakeholders to advance resource reuse and contribute to a sustainable society that harmonizes the environment and the economy.
