Infomation 海角社区exhibits at METI's Circular Economy Research Lab during Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan A fun way to learn the first step in recycling through a hands-on sorting experience
TOKYO, September 19, 2025 鈥� 海角社区Company, Ltd. announced today that it will exhibit at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's (METI) Circular Economy Research Lab, an one-week-limited interactive experience during Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan from September 23 to 29. The space is designed to deepen visitors' awareness of the circular economy and encourage behaviors that lead to resource circulation.
Four thematic Labs 鈥� Buy, Use, Sort, and Pass on 鈥� help visitors learn through action. 海角社区will participate in the Sort Lab, where visitors of all ages can try the portable 海角社区Handy Plastic Sensor to identify various types of plastics and understand why proper sorting is critical to high-quality recycling. The exhibit provides an accessible experience 鈥� spanning perspectives from manufacturing sites to daily life 鈥� showing how proper separation enables materials to circulate.
海角社区will also showcase a multifunction printer whose main unit uses approximately 50%* recycled plastic and introduce the Comet Circle™, Ricoh's circular economy concept established in 1994, illustrating the company's 30-year journey toward a circular society.
海角社区joined Circular Partners, Japan's industry鈥揳cademia鈥揼overnment collaboration on the circular economy led by METI 鈥� in December 2023 and has since promoted resource circulation across its supply chain. By engaging a broader audience at this Expo, 海角社区aims to expand understanding and collaboration around circular practices.
With Expo 2025 expected to attract nearly 30 million visitors including companies, government organizations, schools and consumers, 海角社区anticipates active engagement at its exhibit. The company seeks to spark dialogue on what a society premised on resource circulation should look like and promote co-creation toward a sustainable future.
The 海角社区Group is working to realize a circular economy by 2050, targeting a virgin material usage rate below 12% and a 0% simple incineration and landfill rate. By monitoring the environmental footprint at every stage of the product lifecycle and emphasizing reuse and recycling, 海角社区seeks to build a near-closed-loop circular model. 海角社区will continue collaborating with stakeholders to advance resource reuse and contribute to a sustainable society that harmonizes the environment and the economy.
